Trinket Basket

These cute little pots are great for all sorts of trinkets, paper clips, rubber bands, stitch markers, and more. There are so many uses for them! Make them with a neutral-colored yarn for a boho-styled look or with bright yarn to add a colorful accent to your space.


MATERIALS

4.5 mm/US 7 - Hook

Lily Sugar 'n Cream Yarn, color Ecru

Scissors

1/2" Wood Bead


AMOUNT OF YARN

63 ounces/ 18 grams

33 yards / 39 meters


FINISHED SIZE

3"/7.6cm diameter x 2"/5cm high

PATTERN

For the Basket:

Start with a magic circle or chain 3, slip stitch in the first chain to join creating a ring.

Round 1: Chain 1, make 8 single crochet stitches through the center of the ring. Slip stitch in the first stitch to join. (8)


Round 2: Chain 1, increase in each stitch around. Slip stitch to join. (16)


Round 3: Chain 1, increase in first stitch, single crochet in next stitch, repeat *increase, single crochet* all the way around. Slip stitch to join. (24)


Round 4: Chain 1, increase in first stitch, single crochet in next 2 stitches, repeat *increase, single crochet, single crochet* all the way around. Slip stitch to join. (32)


Round 5: Chain 1, single crochet in the third loop of each stitch around. Slip stitch to join. (32)


Round 6: Chain 1, single crochet in each stitch around. (32)


Rounds 7-10: Repeat row 6.


Finish off with an invisible join.


For the Lid:

Start with a magic circle or chain 3, slip stitch in first chain to join creating a ring.


Round 1: Chain 1, make 8 single crochet stitches through the center of the ring. Slip stitch to join. (8)


Round 2: Chain 1, increase in each stitch around. (16)


Round 3: Chain 1, increase in first stitch, single crochet in next stitch, repeat *increase, single crochet* all the way around. Slip stitch to join. (24)


Round 4: Chain 1, increase in first stitch, single crochet in next 2 stitches, repeat *increase, single crochet, single crochet* all the way around. Slip stitch to join. (32)


Round 5: Chain 1, increase in first stitch, single crochet in next 3 stitches, repeat *increase, single crochet, single crochet, single crochet* all the way around. Slip stitch to join. (38)

Round 6: Chain 1, single crochet in third loop of each stitch around. Slip stitch to join. (38)


Round 7-8: Repeat row 6.


Finish off with an invisible join. Weave in ends.


Adding the bead:

Thread a 6" piece of yarn with a darning needle.


Attach the bead to the top of the lid by sewing up through the lid, into the bead, and back down.

Tie a knot, and weave in ends.


All finished! Time to fill it up :)
